Regional Parties Rule Over The National Parties- A Threat.

Since India had its independence, The Congress had the main course of rule both in the national level and also in the states of our country. Then it was Jansangh which was later transformed as BJP had its existence in to the politics at national level. Meanwhile there have been several regional parties which emerged in various states in our country and gained a fine recognition among the people of the particular states it was on. In Tamilnadu in the 1960s we had Dravidian parties in to existence especially the DMK in the begining with its founder C.N.Annadurai which came to power by 1967 overthrowing the then great leader who was on power in TN Mr.Kamaraj of Congress. Same as here, several regional parties had its existence in different states in the country almost in the same period of time or later. This was slowly weakening the national parties' gain in the states as like The Congress going down from a formidable place till 70's to a almost no where place now in TN and also in many other states. Regional parties mainly took up the lingual recognition as the DMK was fore fronted with scholars in Tamil and also by keeping the point of regionalism than the nationality. ANNA kept the issue as Tamils should rule Tamilnadu and so as many others in their own states took up similar kinda issues. Why is it been discussed here because Congress had its ultimate period of regime since independence in TN till parties like DMK came in. But the present situation of Congress in Tamilnadu has been weakened to an extent that it has to stand in front of the Dravidian parties which command over the state. Its vote bank which was more than 50% even after the DMK's existence has come down to 15% in the state at present and similar is the case in many other states for the party.

The role of regional parties in the parliament elections and the formation of govt in the center has become enormous over the years as top most national parties like Congress and BJP is been forced to tie their hands in front of the regional parties to run the govt which is the most uncertain scene for our country. I believe that except our nation, we could no where witness such a situation. Public has lost their sense of voting for different kinda elections for ex the lok sabha, assembly and corporations and has fallen to the regional parties with no other option as even the national parties fear to stand alone in various states for the lok sabha elections. This take over of the regional parties over the national parties has ended up in a very peculiar scene of no single national party having its majority in the parliament. This drastic change has took place only in the recent years which push back the central govt to act on its own in public welfare activities where either the regional parties who support the Govt for its run stop few activities nor change its genere. Even our Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh had a similar kinda statement recently in a press meet that the regional parties prove an hindrance to the running of the Central Govt and in many of its activities. Not only that, as i mentioned earlier, it has also resulted in no single national party having its majority in the center with the effect of various regional parties vote banks. Even now, in 2009 parliament elections National parties woos many regional party leaders even before the results in relation to form the next govt at center as they fear of having their own majority. The regional parties say that this is how they can bring in various welfare activities to their states from the center. But it has resulted as a hindrance in reality than their point. A government at center should care equally for all the states of its nation and the state governments should woo and get their allocation of funds from the Center. This is the only way where we can develop our country and not by the regional ones taking the lead over the national parties and proving an hindrance.

The General Public should not fall in affection with the regional parties alone nor their free gifts in parliament elections but should vote in view of who should form the govt at center so that a better governance is made. Until and Unless a high percentage of people have this awareness, the present situation will continue at the center forever and it might still go worse in future.
